Griffin James received a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in music performance from Illinois State University.  He has studied euphonium with John Stevens and Dr. Michael Forbes.  During the completion of his graduate studies, Mr. James has enjoyed success in both performing and arranging.  He was the winner of the 2005 Illinois State University Wind Symphony Concerto Competition playing Martin Ellerby’s Euphonium Concerto.  He was also a semifinalist at the prestigious international Falcone Festival solo euphonium competition in 2004.  Mr. James has had many of his arrangements for tuba/euphonium quartet and brass ensemble performed by Illinois State University students and faculty.  Mr. James currently resides in Madison, WI as a substitute teacher and low brass performer/educator.
